Today, yes today is just another confirmation of why I do what I do, because I was called to it! Motherhood is my life calling! This work is not easy, as challenging as it can be, it is even more so rewarding. Empowering women during their birth experience is never a trivial thing. Women that hire a Doula mean serious business when it comes to their birth experience. It means they have done their homework and are willing to invest even more than the time of their research, but to act on it as well. To set up for themselves, and their baby, the very best birth they can have. Taking back our body is real! Reclaiming our primal instincts is real. Society has done so much to mutate our primal instincts, and reversing this can take generations. What we go through to reclaim our birth rights and experience is no small matter. Everyday women all over the world are doing this because how we birth matters, to us and our unborn. How we birth sets up for deep bonding or deep regret. Taking full responsibility empowers us, as women. It is deeply fulfilling to have walked this journey of my own, and to pass it to the next generation, and so on. May that one day come again that we will birth without fear or regret, because we are strong, and standing together will increase our strength exponentially!!! Birth on strong Mama's!!!! With all my love and service, The Dancing Doula Mom of 12

Cynthia says:

Lesa and I met for the first time when I had just entered my second trimester. As a VBAC patient, I felt it necessary to have a doula to help me advocate for the birth I so desperately wanted. Lesa was the perfect choice. She listened to my desires and fears and helped me reach my vbac goal. She was never too pushy and respected the decisions I made, while continuing to be there to support me. During my labor, she was one of my biggest cheerleaders, reminding me to breathe through the pain and focusing on the outcome.
I could not recommend a better doula than Lesa Williams! Any expecting mother would be lucky to have her!

Many doula's are great. Many doula's perform beyond expectations.

But on of the most telling signs of an exceptional doula-when she is the most precise fit for a family, the exact support mom needs-is the beautiful transition in the next season of motherhood.

As we near our sixth week postpartum, I look back on our time together with a fondness I don't recognize from any earlier years of becoming a mother.  Your support was unmatched.  When my family was scared, you reminded me of my strength. When my husband was nervous or unfocused, you encouraged me to a deeper understanding of my capabilities and God's design.

Any time I doubted myself, or my body, you knew exactly what I needed to hear before I even knew.

I can look back on our time shared with fondness.  I am not lacing in any way. I feel a fullness and bliss that I wish for every mother experience. *This* is what postpartum is meant to feel like.

This pregnancy, birth and postpartum has changed me forever.  Last summer I went seeking support because I couldn't possibly have another experience like my two before-but I found healing in a way I didn't know existed on this side of heaven. And I have you to thank. Thank you, Lesa, for believing in me, genuinely encouraging me along the way, and your gentle guidance in the moments I could've been weak.

Lesa was my doula for the labor and birth of my daughter (my first and only child). I appreciated the opportunity to meet with her and talk through my situation thoroughly (as well as get to know her) before making a final decision to hire her as my doula. She visited me and my husband in our home prior to the birth and shared valuable information to help us prepare and know what to expect, which increased my confidence.  On the night of my daughter's birth, Lesa's presence in the labor and delivery room was invaluable. She kept me on target with my birth plan, suggesting movement and position changes that kept things progressing. Without her help, I don't believe I would have managed my pain as well and would have felt "lost" in the process.  She was the pillar my husband and I could both lean on throughout the night. He was even able to take some much needed breaks. Overall, my labor and delivery was everything I hoped it would be- no interventions or pain meds, quick, and a healthy, safe, welcoming start to my daughter's life. My husband was even able to deliver her and cut the umbilical cord. It is an experience we will always remember fondly and Lesa is a big part of that. I highly recommend her!

Only took a few minutes of meeting with Lesa to know she would be our doula. Her experience, positive energy and confidence was exactly what I was looking for. As this was my first pregnancy, my husband and I wanted a doula to help us through a natural childbirth and Lesa helped us achieve that goal! She was supportive when we decided to change doctors and hospitals at 36 weeks and she was willing to try some techniques to induce labor naturally when I went past 41 weeks. Ultimately, I ended up going to the hospital for an induction (stubborn baby!) but having her there gave me the courage to only allow the medical staff to give me the lowest dose of pitocin. She was there for the entire 16 hours of labor and delivery, and all of her techniques and suggestions helped manage the pain and conserve my energy. Although there were a couple trying times during labor, her encouragement helped me through it and I was ultimately able to avoid a c-section which was important to me. I would absolutely recommend Lesa as a doula and would use her again in a heartbeat!

Lesa Williams is the best! I had a home birth with my second and she was actually part of my midwife’s team. I didn’t know what a difference a good doula could make until she showed up. She read me perfectly and knew just what I needed every breath of the way, what comfort or encouragement to give me and when. I caught myself saying the classic words “I can’t do it” and she assured me “you ARE doing it!” which was so empowering. She worked an incredible magic on my mind and body. She applied the best sacral pressure and hip squeezes. She is incredibly strong, and yet warm and tender. You can tell she has a lot of experience! Her presence at my home birth was worth more than my weight in gold and it wouldn’t have been the same without her.

Where do I begin I absolutely love Lesa she is a Godsend and I could not have done it without her! Well that's a start. Lesa is the best Doula in the Triangle, she is loving, caring, brave, encouraging and energetic and now my friend. I wanted to hire a Doula and she came highly recommended by multiple people so I met with her and instantly fell in love with her personality. As a first time mother she made me feel empowered and at ease with childbirth. I loved her encouragement through a 24 hour natural labor and delivery. I had some complications but she was always by my side making sure to help me have a voice during my birthing experience. I would absolutely use her and highly recommended her to anyone giving birth. Love her!  You will not regret your experience.

Lesa was a great doula for me during a stressful labor and delivery.  It was my first baby and everything happened very quickly, and Lesa was an amazing source of calm and relief. i had a really hard time getting a hold of my  contractions, and Lesa was awesome about making me feel better by talking me through breathing and by massaging my back to help with the pain of back labor. She has a very calming, motherly way about her which is just what I needed during my labor. My husband was great but he did not know how to really coach me through the pain or make me physically feel better the way Lesa did. I decided I wanted a doula because I was at a practice where I wasn't able to establish a relationship with just one OB and I didn't feel confident about the uncertainty of my care team during labor and not knowing who would be in the delivery room with me. Having a Doula there, particularly Lesa, made me feel a lot more in control during a time where I didn't know what to expect. Lesa was very generous with her time and kept in regular communication before and after my baby arrived.  My husband and I are both so glad we worked with her and have recommended her to several other people.

Lesa was a breath of fresh air with a gentle loving spirt. Although this was my fourth delivery it was like no other. It was my first experience having a homebirth after having a cesarean. I was told by my healthcare provider that I was at such a risk if I decided to deliver vaginally. Lesa and I connected right away when she reassured me to trust my body and my process. Words alone can’t express my gratitude for Lisa and my successful V-BAC. I highly recommend Lesa. In fact I may try for my 5th child just so I can hire Lesa. I will always be connected to you. Lateesha
